Unit 1 Leads Country in Production
Wadsworth, Texas -- March 12, 2002 -- The South Texas Project (STP) Unit 1 reactor generated more electricity than any other reactor in the U.S. in 2001. Unit 1 Back Online After 21-Day Refueling Outage
Wadsworth, Texas -- Nov. 8, 2001 -- The Unit 1 reactor at the South Texas Project Electric Generating Station has been refueled and is back online. STP Unit 1 returned to service Oct. 24, two days ahead of schedule, following a 21-day 15-hour 33-minute shutdown. STP Has Lowest Fuel Cost of All Power Plants in U.S.
Wadsworth, Texas -- July 25, 2001 -- The South Texas Project nuclear power plant has the lowest average fuel cost of any power plant in the U.S., reports filed with federal regulators show. At four-tenths of a cent per kilowatt-hour (kwh) STP's cost is the best reported among American nuclear plants, and the uranium used in reactors is the least expensive power plant fuel.
